Monday Bunday

With Easter fast approaching, the House Rabbit Society and the Make Mine Chocolate campaign are spreading the word that rabbits are not gifts. They are not "easy" or "low maintenance" pets and they should not be "released" into the wild when you are no longer interested in them. Rabbits are a 10+ year commitment and unless you are prepared to become a bunny slave, buy a chocolate rabbit!

Adopt a Rescued Rabbit Month!

February is Adopt a Rescued Rabbit Month! Both Pumpkin and Patch are rescued rabbits. Miss Pumpkin came from a local shelter called Lollypop Farm and Mr. Patch came from the Upstate New York Chapter of the House Rabbit Society.

If you are thinking of adding a new family member to your zoo, consider a rabbit! Rabbits make great pets, but make sure you do your research to make sure a rabbit is the right pet for you.

Happy February!

Make Mine Chocolate

With Easter fast approaching, the Make Mine Chocolate campaign is up and running again! They strive to promote buying chocolate rabbits for Easter instead of real rabbits. The sad truth is that people buy rabbits as gifts for Easter, and then those same rabbits end up discarded or in shelters soon after Easter is over and the novelty has warn off. Shelters, like the one I volunteer in, end up over run with unwanted rabbits. So this Easter, be sure to make yours chocolate too!

Here is a picture of me (with my cute new haircut:) and Pumpkin!
