I was just looking back through some old pictures and came across this one. I think I took this sometime during the first week we had Patch. He lived upstairs till we were ready to bond him with Pumpkin and he and Chloe got to hang out. They mostly tried to boss each other around. That is Chloe's innocent "I-swear-I-wasn't-going-to-hit-the-bunny" face.

This is totally an "out-take", but I actually love it. Patch is so curious it's hard to get a good picture of him because he's always running over to see what you're doing!

We have a Craisin addict.

Patch, admitting you have a problem is the first step.

Oh no, we might have another one!

Patch's movie debut!
Can you hear that chirping in the background? No we didn't get a bird. That's Henry whining. He gets all whiny when I play with buns, or the cat, or try to eat something, or do homework, or go upstairs where he's not allowed, or do anything except give him my undying love and affection. Because according to him... that's what he deserves.

Monday Bunday
"I disapprove of this bowl being empty." -Mr. Patch
......
So last night we're sitting on the couch, watching tv and all of a sudden I hear "squeak, squeak..... squeak, squeak, squeak ...."
Me: Do you hear that?
A: Hear what?
Me: That.... squeaking...
A: (starts to ignore me and goes back to watching tv)
Me: Honey, seriously. Do you hear that?
A: Hear what???
Me: (gets up and walks to dining room, turns on light)
What did I find? Princess Chloe torturing a poor little field mouse! It was half dead and she was swatting it with her paws. My little hunter. So of course I scream and run up the stairs. A then proceeds to get a plastic container, scoop it up and throw it outside.
Not more than 30 minutes later, I go to let Henry outside and she had another one cornered in the kitchen! So A caught that one too and threw it outside. Poor little guys. Although, I have to admit, I'm quite proud of Chloe! I've never seen her catch a mouse before! At least she knows what she's doing. I told her no napping today. She needs to search high and low while I'm at work and round up all the little mice so we can catch them and release them back into the wild that is the backyard. She said not to worry. She's on the job.

Weekend update
You're never going to believe this! A got me to do YARD WORK today! Can you believe it? I know, me neither.
You've seen the front yard but I won't even show you the backyard. Between the dog and a really long winter, it's not pretty. But we cleaned up a lot of the leaves that got covered in snow last fall before we had a chance to pick them up and I collected Henry's very large collection of sticks and threw them out. He wasn't pleased with me and couldn't understand WHY ON EARTH I would throw out sticks! He'll get over it. A let me use his leaf sucker/blower thing (properly supervised of course cause we all know me+power tools=imminent disaster). I kept sucking up all these poor little earth worms that were happily snoozing under the wet leaves. Made me feel bad. I saved a couple and put them in one part of the garden Henry hasn't dug up yet. But I definitely didn't feel bad about the 15 spiders I sucked up. Yuck.
We also got some culture in too of course. We went to see the ballet Cinderella today. It was a matinée so there were tons of kids there. Actually not so much kids as little girls. And they were all dressed up in princess dresses and they were wearing tiaras and had fairy godmother wands. I was totally jealous. I really wanted a fairy godmother wand but A wouldn't buy me one. Jerk.
On the bun front... check this picture out. Cuteness!

Patch is all flopped over and Pumpkin is snuggled up next to him. These two are just so cute!
Tomorrow night we're having dinner with the music director of the orchestra A works for. He's coming to pick us up just so he can see Henry and play with him. How funny is that!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Monday Bunday
The best thing happened over the weekend. I can't believe I'm saying this! It's just SO AMAZING!!! Pumpkin and Patch have decided that they like each other!!! They are BEST FRIENDS now! Can you believe it? I've moved them into the same cage and they have shared it for 2 days now. Check this out...

Pumpkin is grooming Patch!!

I was beginning to think they would never get along, but I really didn't want to give up on Patch. He's just the sweetest little bunny. I don't know what happened that they all of a sudden decided to accept each other, but they did and I couldn't be more happy!
I sent Patch's adoption contract back to the NY House Rabbit Society today. Welcome to your forever home, Patch!

#4 Patch
Patch is by far the funniest rabbit I have ever had. He has an incredible curiosity and fearlessness that makes him just irresistible. We call him our intrepid explorer because every time he goes into a new room or place, he has to "explore" every nook and cranny of it. Get on top of everything, get under everything... It's really entertaining to watch. The best thing about his is that he is a half-lop. One ear up, one ear down. It's very endearing.
Yesterday I was downstairs studying and I heard a huge crash come from upstairs. I ran up to see what happened, thinking Chloe had got into something, but no, Patch had gotten up on top of the vanity table in the guest bedroom and knocked a bunch of stuff off. Don't ask me why he went up there, I have no idea!
Now, Patch is not an official member of the Zoo. We are currently his foster parents as he is on loan to us from the New York House Rabbit Society. Patch is with us while he is "dating" Pumpkin. They have been dating for a couple weeks now and things are going pretty well. They are getting along better now, but Pumpkin is still the more aggressive one. After running around in the dining room for a while yesterday afternoon, Pumpkin and Patch spend the rest of their day in their respective cages side by side...staring at each other... We're really hoping Patch will stay, but we'll have to wait and see.
Here are some pictures of the little guy...
Chloe & Patch

Looking out the window... it's a big world out there!

Flopped over. It's hard being a rabbit.
