Here's a tip we use with Shadow the dog, if you have a fence post or basketball net pole, something like that, take a short leash and put the end through the handle so its secure around the pole and then clip the dog to it. Its much easier when they can't walk too far away.
Henry seems to be quite enjoying it!!!
