Monday Bunday

Yesterday, I dragged A to a rabbit and cavi show! I was so excited to go but I have to say, I was a little concerned at what I saw. Now, I've never been to a show like this before, and maybe this is normal, but they kept all the rabbits in these tiny cages! Some of them were so cramped they couldn't even turn around. Is this normal? I'm assuming that they only do this at shows because they have so many rabbits to transport, but, I just felt really bad for them. Check this out for example...

I wasn't all bad though. I saw lots of buns getting cuddles from their owners who obviously adored them. Overall it was lots of fun and we got to see some breeds of rabbits were have never even heard of!

This one was my favorite. She is a Flemish Giant. Look at those ears!! She weighs more than Chloe!

The judges table. See that little guy peaking out?!?

The English Angoras were A's favotires. They are basically a pair of ears with a big ball of fuzz attached!

And of course, we left soaked in disapproval. And returned home to more disapproval.

Wow, those are tiny cages! Maybe it has something to do with space constraints at the venue?

I want to rescue them all......I hope their home loves are more spacious. I used to see the rabbits at the county fair every year, until I just couldn't bare it.

I'm not sure about the small cages either, but its what I always see whenever I look at photos of rabbit shows. Maybe it allows the breeders to transport more buns to the show per vehicle? Some breeders here have imported rabbits from US, and those rabbits flew all the way here in those small cages as well :( Can't imagine how that must have felt.

The Flemish Giant is adorable! Hmm, I thought Flemmies had up-ears though? Could she be an English Lop?

The little peek-a-boo bun is so cute! And my husband, too, loves fluffy Angoras!

The little guy peeking out at the judges' table makes me think it would be funny if all the buns jumped out of their boxes at the same time!

Same at the yearly show we attend. Unfortuntely, back at the breeders, while the cages are a bit larger, it is not a pretty sight and is what makes one think twice of ever getting a pet bunny unless it is from a rescue place.
