The weirdness that is Chloe

Chloe has many weird habits, but this, by far, is the weirdest. She is completely and utterly incapable of drinking water directly from her bowl. She has done this thing for years where she dips her paw into the water, and then slowly and delicately licks the water off her paw. Let's take a look, shall we?

Exhibit A: The dipping of the paw.

Exhibit B: The licking of the paw that is now wet.

This usually continues for a good 15-30 minutes before she has gotten her fill of water and moves on. But before she can leave my kitchen counter, she must shake her paw to get rid of the excess water. That water always ends up on the window, causing water stains that I must clean off. Thank you, darling. Mommy appreciates that.

PC: "That is where the dog belongs. Outside."

That is SO WEIRD, does she want a super wide bowl so her whiskers don't touch or a water bottle, maybe it is just more fun that way !

How odd! Does the vet have any thoughts on why she does this? Obviously it's not causing her any problems but I'd be curious to know if it's something other cats sometimes do, too.

That IS very unusual. I thought cats would usually avoid getting any body parts wet, LOL!

Btw, we have an award for you on our blog :)

I used to have a cat that did this.
When she tried to drink right from the bowl she would get a nose full. When I'd watch her it always looked like her eyes crossed when she got to close to the bowl. So she was at least smart enough to dip her foot to get a drink. Her brother on the other hand used to like to sit in the tub with the water dripping and drink from that.
